
High School Professional Development with Land Trust Education

Join the Land Trust of North Alabama for a day of engaging professional development designed specifically for high school educators. These sessions will provide hands-on experience, practical classroom resources, and ideas for incorporating place-based, project-based learning into your curriculum. Teachers can choose to attend both sessions or pick one.
Session 1: Exploring Citizen Science with iNaturalist
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM | Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve
Take a guided hike with a Land Trust naturalist and discover how to use iNaturalist as a tool for citizen science and real-world data collection. Learn how you can empower your students to observe, record, and contribute to biodiversity research in your local environment.

Session 2: Resources & Partnerships for Project-Based Learning
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Huntsville-Madison County Public Library
Preview and explore classroom-ready resources developed by the Land Trust education team. This session will highlight ways to integrate local environmental topics into your teaching and offer opportunities to partner with the Land Trust for student-centered, project-based learning experiences during the 2025–26 school year.
