Members-Only Star Party at Blevins Gap

March 7 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Land Trust members are invited to attend a spring stargazing party at the pollinator garden at Blevins Gap Nature Preserve. As we approach the equinox, Land Trust member and volunteer Ed Faits will show participants the unique opportunity that Blevins has to offer in tracking the movement of the sunset over the course of the year. We will also have telescopes set up to view the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn as well as some springtime constellations. This event is open to all Land Trust members and their families; however, it might not be suitable for children under 8.
Please bring a bag chair for the opportunity to sit and chat with fellow Land Trust members in the sunset and early evening. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is made possible with the help of the Von Braun Astronomical Society. VBAS has also given Land Trust members a special opportunity to use a solar telescope. Anyone interested in viewing the sun safely can come up to half an hour before the event start time to take a peek through the lens.
Accessibility notes: The gravel paths through our pollinator garden are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair. If you have other issues with accessibility, please let us know when you reserve your spot!
In case weather conditions necessitate that we move the date of the event, please pay attention to the email you used to register. We will make a cloud/weather call by 3:00 p.m. the day of the event.
