Land Trust Protects 27 Acres with Kendall Trails Acquisition

The Land Trust of North Alabama is excited to kick off 2026 with the acquisition of Kendall Trails, a newly protected property totaling nearly 27 acres located just east of Pulaski Pike on Opp Reynolds Road. The land was generously donated by Hyde Homes.

Kendall Trails holds high conservation value as a wooded wetland area that helps protect local water resources and provides important habitat in a rapidly developing part of Madison County. The property’s wetlands and small creeks contribute to water recharge and support a variety of wildlife, creating a natural refuge amid surrounding residential growth.

Beyond its conservation value, Kendall Trails holds strong potential as a future public recreation preserve. As outdoor recreation opportunities remain limited in this area of the county, the property could one day support natural surface trails and boardwalks that allow the community to safely experience these wetlands while preserving their sensitive features.

The protection of Kendall Trails marks a strong start to the new year and reflects the Land Trust’s ongoing commitment to conserving vital natural spaces while thoughtfully planning for a growing community. We look forward to sharing updates as stewardship and future planning efforts move forward on this new property.
