Educator Workshop: Why Do Leaves Change Color in the Fall?

October 18, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 2:30 pm

When: October 18 from 9 AM until around 2:30 PM

Cost: $15

Land Trust of North Alabama in partnership with the Alabama Forestry Foundation and the Mountain Lakes Chapter (Alabama Division) of the Society of American Foresters will present a workshop for K-8 educators in North Alabama.  Public, private, and homeschool educators are welcome! This workshop will take place at the Land Trust’s Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve. Enjoy a day of walking the trails, exploring the landscape, and enjoying the beauty of the forest.  We’ll also learn to use the Project Learning Tree K-8 activity guide in and out of the classroom.

The $15 registration fee covers the curriculum guide ($34.99 retail), additional resources, lunch, and 5 hours of continuing education credit for educators as well as other attendees.

Register here by clicking on the Workshop Calendar link.

Activity Guide Table of Contents

This guide is filled with activities for grades K-8, and all of the activities can be adapted for different grade levels.  Project Learning Tree has correlated all of these activities to the Alabama Course of Study standards.  That information can be found here.  A short description of each activity can be found here.

Project Learning Tree offers many different resources in addition to this workshop.  More information on those resources can be found here on the PLT Alabama page.

More information on this workshop can be found through the Alabama Forestry Association or at plt@alaforestry.org. You can also contact Tim Gels at timg@landtrustnal.org if you have questions. We hope to see you there!
