Plant Walk with Feral Foraging at Trailhead Greenway

(Easy / Around 1.5 hours / Less than 2 miles) Explore the incredible world of wild plants with Jesse Akozbek of Feral Foraging as your expert guide! Join us for a unique and educational plant walk that will unveil the rich biodiversity and traditional uses of North Alabama’s flora. This walk will take place at Trailhead Greenway which runs alongside the Land Trust’s newest nature preserve, officially opening in June.
During this interactive and engaging walk, you’ll learn:
- How to identify local wild edible plants
- The historical significance and traditional uses of these plants
- Sustainable foraging practices to respect and preserve our environment
- How to stay safe while foraging
The content of this walk is accessible to people of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced learner! We will not cover a great distance during this event and will remain on mostly flat ground.
Hike Leader: Jesse Akozbek of Feral Foraging
Meeting Location: Trailhead Greenway Parking – 1500 Trailhead Main St, Huntsville, AL 35811
Directions: Coming from Huntsville, head east on Highway 72. At the intersection of Highway 72 and Moores Mill Road, turn right into the Trailhead community. Then turn right onto Trailhead Main Street. The greenway parking lot is located straight ahead at the end of the street.
