Foraging Hike at Hickory Cove Nature Preserve
June 17, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
(Easy / Around 2 hours / number of miles to be determined, but probably around 2) Those of you who have hiked with forager Casey Lanier know what to expect for this hike: A meandering walk around the sunny edges of the preserve, stopping regularly to talk about whatever “forage-worthy” plants the group comes across. Summer is here, and with the new season comes more plants to learn about. This hike will start at the Hickory Cove Preserve parking lot, but the exact route will be determined based on what there is to find. That said, expect a fair bit of walking. This hike is educational so we’ll stop often to talk and observe.
Hike Leader: Casey Lanier
Location: Hickory Cove Nature Preserve – 1500 Trailhead Main St, Huntsville, AL 35811
Directions: Coming from Huntsville, head east on Highway 72. At the intersection of Highway 72 and Moores Mill Road, turn right into the Trailhead community. Then turn right onto Trailhead Main Street. The parking lot is located straight ahead at the end of the street.
