Celebrating Cane Creek Canyon
April 27 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Spring is one of the best times to visit Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve – the waterfalls are flowing and the wildflowers are blooming. On April 27, we will wrap up Earth Month by celebrating this extraordinary property with a day of hiking, wildflowers, food, and music! While the preserve will be open at 7:00 am as usual, we will have special events throughout the day.
The event is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated and encouraged!
Location: Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve – 251 Loop Rd, Tuscumbia, AL 35674

Schedule of Events:
10:00 AM – Guided Hike to Karen Falls (Moderate / 4-5 hours / 8 miles) This hike will take you to see at least 6 waterfalls! Visit the point with an outstanding view of the canyon as well as the blue hole. Your guide will point out various species of wildflowers and maybe some salamanders. Participants should bring plenty of water and lunch. We’ll take a lunch break along the way.
12:00 PM – Guided Wildflower Hike (Moderate / 2 miles) Bring your field guides, boots, and smartphones! We’ll be keying out wildflower species using various field guides and yes…cell phones (kinda cheating). We will take our time on this leisurely hike although we’ll be hiking into the canyon which requires a hike back out. We will encounter some rocky ground and several moist areas, so be sure to wear ankle supporting boots.
1:00 PM – Kids Activity
2:00-5:00 PM – Music and Dinner by the Fire – Join us for some live music featuring the Cliff Tones (at 2 PM)and Cane Creek Canyon Cliff Dwellers (at 3:30 PM) along with food by the campfire. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on. This gathering will take place at the picnic shelter near the check in kiosk.
