Hiking 101 at Monte Sano Nature Preserve

March 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Want to get into hiking but not sure where to start? Or do you simply want to learn how to be better prepared for your next hike? Join Marcus Woolf, local author of Hiking Huntsville guidebooks, for an introduction to hiking that will cover what to bring, how to prepare for your hike, trail etiquette, safety tips, and more. Participants will start with a short Hiking 101 at the pavilion then head out for a hike on Bluff Line Trail.

(Moderate / Around 1.5 hours / Around 2 miles)  Monte Sano Nature Preserve doesn’t have many trails that are relatively level, but this hike will be along one of them.  This hike is simply an “out and back” on the Bluff Line Trail.  This is one of the easier hikes on Monte Sano Mountain, and is suitable for most hikers.

Hike Leader: Marcus Woolf, author of Hiking Huntsville Vol. 1 & 2

Location: Monte Sano Nature Preserve (Bankhead Trailhead) – 2442 Bankhead Pkwy NE, Huntsville, AL 35801

Note: This preserve has several trailheads – be sure to come to the right one.
