Tree Identification Hike with Callie Schweitzer Blevins Gap
April 28, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Our newest trails on Blevins Gap have a variety of trees to explore! Sweetgum? Chittamwood? Maple? You’ll know the difference after an afternoon learning how to identify some of our native species with Forester Callie Schweitzer. (2 hours/ Moderate to Difficult (due to elevation changes) / 1.5 miles)
Location: Blevins Gap Nature Preserve (Walsingham Trailhead) – From Cecil Ashburn headed east toward Hampton Cove, turn left at Donegal Drive then left onto Walsingham. Park on left side of the road near the trailhead.
These FREE hikes offer natural beauty and exercise for the entire family but donations to help preserve green space are accepted! You don’t need fancy equipment! However, we do recommend:
- long pants and comfortable shoes with good tread
- bottled water
- hiking sticks
- trail snacks
- and a camera to capture the experience
Dogs welcome, but must be on leads. In case of rain, hikes may be cancelled. Please verify cancellation at landtrustnal.org/hikes
RESERVATION IS REQUIRED for guided hikes. Space is limited. Please register by 5 PM on Friday before weekend hikes. Our office is closed on Saturday & Sunday. Please call 256-534-5263 or email questions@landtrustnal.org if you have questions or need additional information.
