Youth Hike at Monte Sano Nature Preserve

If your 9-13 year old enjoys exploring nature, join us on Saturday, October 15 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM for a youth hike at the Monte Sano Nature Preserve (Bankhead Trailhead) led by a Land Trust volunteer who’s a middle schooler herself. Please note that this is not a drop off event – all participants must be accompanied by a guardian.
Our route is subject to change, but we’re planning to start at the Bankhead Trailhead and head out on the Bluff Line Trail. After just a short bit of that trail, we’ll take the Old Railroad Bed trail and follow it until we come back around to the Alms House Trail. We’ll finish with the Alms House Trail back to the parking lot. With any luck, there will be water in the creek we’ll cross so we can do a bit of aquatic exploration! This hike is moderately difficult with hills and some rocky terrain, and it covers just over one and a half miles. We should finish in about 90 minutes, but please plan on two hours. Participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and encouraged to bring plenty of water, bug spray and sunscreen.
