Spring Break Pop-up Hike: Green Mountain

Monday, March 13 – Friday, March 17 is the week of Spring Break for most of our local school systems so we’re offering a series of Pop-Up Hikes. These easy to moderate hikes will be appropriate for mid-elementary-age hikers as well as older kids and adults and are led by Land Trust staff featuring a variety of nature preserves.

(Easy / Around 1 hour / 1.5 miles) Green Mountain Nature Preserve, like all of our other preserves, is starting to emerge from its wintertime slumber! This easy hike will give you an opportunity to see what it looks like as flowers are starting to bloom and things are just beginning to turn green. We’ll start at Alum Hollow Trailhead, and follow that trail out until we get to the far end of East Plateau Trail. We’ll then take East Plateau Trail back toward the trailhead, finishing up by once again on Alum Hollow Trail which will return you back to the parking area.

Location: Green Mountain Nature Preserve – 13800 South Shawdee Road, Huntsville, AL 35803 (Please note: This Land Trust Nature Preserve is not the same thing as Madison County Nature Trail. The trailhead for this hike is just up the road from the Madison County Nature Trail entrance.)
