Alum Hollow Archaeology Hike with Ben Hoksbergen

You can explore Huntsville history by examining remnants from the past at the Land Trust of North Alabama’s Green Mountain Nature Preserve. This 3 mile guided hike and archaeological discovery will be led by Archaeologist Ben Hoksbergen. (3 hours / Easy to Moderate / 3 miles)
Location: Green Mountain Nature Preserve (Alum Hollow Trailhead) – 13800 South Shawdee Road, Huntsville, AL 35803
These FREE hikes offer natural beauty and exercise for the entire family but donations to help preserve green space are accepted! You don’t need fancy equipment! However, we do recommend:
- long pants and comfortable shoes with good tread
- bottled water
- hiking sticks
- trail snacks
- and a camera to capture the experience
Dogs welcome, but must be on leads. In case of rain, hikes may be cancelled. Please verify cancellation here or on our Facebook Page or website.
