Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve – 3 hours / Moderate / 2.5 miles
You can explore Huntsville history by examining remnants from the past at the Land Trust of North Alabama’s Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve. This 2.5 mile guided hike and archaeological discovery will be led by Archaeologist Ben Hoksbergen.
Location: Chapman Nature Preserve – coming from Huntsville, take HWY 72 E over Chapman Mountain and make U-turn at Moore’s Mill. Once on 72 W, get in the far right lane and follow the silver guardrail to the end. Turn right as soon as the guardrail ends to enter to enter the preserve.

2018 Fall Hike and Adventure Series
These FREE hikes offer natural beauty and exercise for the entire family but donations to help preserve green space are accepted! You don’t need fancy equipment! However, we do recommend:
- long pants and comfortable shoes with good tread
- bottled water
- hiking sticks
- trail snacks
- and a camera to capture the experience
Dogs welcome, but must be on leads. In case of rain, hikes may be cancelled. Please verify cancellation at landtrustnal.org or on the Land Trust of North Alabama Facebook Page (@landtrustnal).
