Rainbow Mountain Nature Preserve
2 hours / Moderate / 2 miles
Rainbow Mountain Nature Preserve is well known for its dramatic limestone and sandstone structures. You can explore the area with the Land Trust of North Alabama with a moderate 2 mile hike. Geologist Ben Ferrill will share the history and science behind these fascinating rock formations.

2018 Fall Hike and Adventure Series
These FREE hikes offer natural beauty and exercise for the entire family but donations to help preserve green space are accepted! You don’t need fancy equipment! However, we do recommend:
- long pants and comfortable shoes with good tread
- bottled water
- hiking sticks
- trail snacks
- and a camera to capture the experience
Dogs welcome, but must be on leads. In case of rain, hikes may be cancelled. Please verify cancellation at landtrustnal.org or on the Land Trust of North Alabama Facebook Page (@landtrustnal).
