Teen Homeschool Hike at Monte Sano

Join us for the monthly Teen Homeschool Hike at Monte Sano Nature Preserve where we will combine learning about nature and the history of Huntsville as we hike. We will hike the Alms House Trail and Three Caves Loop Trail. On these trails we’ll look into the “bowl” and learn the history of the “three caves” which aren’t natural, but were actually a mine. We’ll also discuss the geology and what the rock was used for as Huntsville grew as a city.

This hike is for teens, ages 12 – 17. A parent or guardian must accompany each teen to the preserve, and we ask that younger siblings not attend. Parents and guardians don’t have to hike. Be sure to dress in layers for the weather, wear hiking shoes, and bring a snack and water. We will stop along the trail for nature journaling or taking photos, so bring your favorite art supplies!
