Green Mountain Trail Ribbon Cutting & Members-only Guided Hike

We’re officially opening Green Mountain Trail and celebrating all the work that went into its creation!
(Moderate / 2 hours / Around 2.25 miles) Land Trust members are invited to take a first look at our newest trail that provides access to a whole new area of Green Mountain! Join us for the ribbon cutting of this new trail and then experience it first-hand with a hike led by Land Steward Tim Barnack, who oversaw the 2-year construction process. The route meanders down the mountainside featuring impressive boulders and quiet woodland with approximately 580 feet in elevation change. Lots of volunteer time and skill went into the creation of this new path. Hear all about the process and enjoy the result as we hike to celebrate our newest outdoor recreation offering.
Hike Notes: This route is all downhill. The terrain varies but is rocky and uneven in areas. The change in elevation increases the difficulty. Download our new Green Mountain North trail map here!
Starting Location: Green Mountain North (Riverview Trailhead) – 5390 Riverview Dr SE, Huntsville, AL 35803
Located off of SE South Shawdee Road on top of Green Mountain. This is a residential area with limited parking. Please take care you are not blocking driveways and carpool when possible. Specific instructions provided to registered participants.
Ending Location: Green Mountain North (Astalot Trailhead)
Please note: This hike starts and ends at a different location. Land Trust staff members will be available to shuttle hikers back up the mountain to the starting location at the end of the hike.
