Hickory Cove Nature Preserve Opening Day

We’re thrilled to officially open Hickory Cove Nature Preserve, our tenth public preserve, on National Trails Day – Saturday, June 3! We’ll have a quick celebration and ribbon cutting at 9 AM followed by guided hikes so you can see it for yourself. Land Trust board and staff will be available to answer questions and chat. We hope you can join us to celebrate!

Location: Trailhead Greenway Parking – 1500 Trailhead Main St, Huntsville, AL 35811
Directions: Coming from Huntsville, head east on Highway 72. At the intersection of Highway 72 and Moores Mill Road, turn right into the Trailhead community. Then turn right onto Trailhead Main Street. The greenway parking lot is located straight ahead at the end of the street.
Legacy Loop Hike at Hickory Cove Nature Preserve
(Moderate / Around 1.5 hours / Around 2 miles) Join us for a hike on our newest property and tenth public nature preserve on opening day! After a short celebration and ribbon cutting to officially open Hickory Cove Nature Preserve, take a guided hike along Legacy Loop Trail, which wanders through much of this beautiful mountainside. Enjoy spring wildflowers and newly green trees in the company of other hikers during one of our first guided hikes on this new preserve.

Trailhead Greenway Stroll at Hickory Cove Nature Preserve
(Easy / Around 1.5 hours / Less than 2 miles) After a short celebration and ribbon cutting to officially open Hickory Cove Nature Preserve, take a stroll along this paved greenway that runs alongside our newest nature preserve with Conservation Biologist Sara Johnson.
