Winter Tree Identification Mini-Workshop
December 8 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
In this mini-workshop, you will learn how to recognize trees in the winter when no fresh leaves are available. While this may seem like a daunting task, with the right details, it is actually simple and approachable! The two topics that will be covered are bark and twig/bud identification. To keep our participants warm on what could be a chillier December afternoon, this mini-workshop will consist of two sections: a shorter hike discussing the nuts and bolts of identification, followed by a break for refreshments and discussion at the Terry Education Pavilion. We will then conduct a longer hike after the break to practice our budding (pun intended) identification skills.
A few additional notes:
- Warm drinks and light snacks will be provided.
- Participants will leave with a copy of Winter Tree Finder: A Manual for the Identification of Trees by May Theilgaard Watts.
